Achieving success! Isn’t that at the very heart of what you want and a big part of why you do the work you do? It’s the thing we all want in our lives, right? But, are you clear on what real success is to you and are you taking the much needed steps to achieve it and your life goals?
Are you on a path of experiencing and fully living the life and lifestyle you want to live?
Below I will unveil our 7 Waves of Real Success. I’ll share how each wave embodies one key aspect of real success in a way that enables you to live your best life everyday for the rest of your life. You’ll see how it impacts your business or career, the specific work you do, and beyond into every aspect of your life. Work-life balance flows naturally as you fully embrace wave after wave in a way meaningful to you.
You’ll also see how each wave ultimately affects each other wave and why that matters.
Before doing so let’s explore the traditional work success model because it is the biggest hurdle standing between you and real success.
The Traditional Work Success Model
Our world has evolved to define success as money; first and foremost.
Success = Money and Money = Success
It’s both a blessing and a curse.
Essentially we’ve all come to embrace and believe that if we work harder and work longer it will lead to financial success and when we finally achieve financial success we can then, and only then, have a life.
This message, in one form or another, has been drilled into your mind for decades.
You see it glamourized on TV, in the news, and all over social media.
You hear it from business “leaders” and “gurus” all the time. They have come to unconsciously believe it from those before them. Plus, they have already achieved financial success so are incentivized to continue and perpetuate the path for others even though it’s killing them and they are miserable because of it.
Then, your own inner voice takes over. Repeatedly day in day out it reinforces this message until it just becomes the way it is. That, of course, guides your daily actions.
Where does it all lead?
Along an unsustainable path of…
- Sleep Deprivation
- Diminishing Energy
- Diminishing Health
- Plummeting Productivity
- Limited Personal Performance
- Lack of Work-Life Balance
- Plummeting Profitability
Wow, sounds pretty bleak huh?
It can feel like swimming against a strong current with waves crashing down from all directions and no end in sight. That can lead you to stay stuck overworked, overwhelmed, and unhappy about it.
That’s the curse of the old outdated traditional work success model. It’s a completely backward way of thinking and being and it needs to STOP… NOW!
On the blessing side, money is absolutely a big part of success. By earning a high level of income or business revenue, having a growing net worth, and becoming financially free you can create a tidal wave with so many good things happening because of it.
It just cannot be the only goal and measure of success. Putting off your health and well being, letting the relationships with those close to you slip off track, or not having a life cannot come at the expense of the endless pursuit of money all by itself.
Why? Because there will always be a reason to keep putting off having a life. There will always be the next dollar, that next project, or that next growth step in your business or career to keep you firmly entrenched on this unsustainable path.
It’s time to stop making your business, career or job the centre of your universe. It’s a trap. Ditch the old traditional work success model, NOW, before it’s too late!
Consider this very counterintuitive thought.
When you make you and having a life of meaning the centre of your universe you will actually end up doing things that will make you happier and healthier, physically as well as mentally and emotionally too. That, will lead to you having more energy and time to really focus on what matters most to you. You will actually become more personally productive at work, at home, and everywhere AND you will end up contributing even more. Then, you will ultimately make more money as a result!
The New Life Success Model
Now doesn’t that sound more like real success to you?
One of the lasting results of shifting towards and embracing the 7 waves of real success is that you still make money, perhaps much more than you would have otherwise. Plus you do so in a healthier, less stressful, more meaningful and happier way.
The question you may be thinking right now, of course, is how do I get there?
Well, as the Albert Einstein quotes goes…
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
So ultimately you need to do things differently. You need to break free from your old habits, old patterns, your controlling underlying limiting beliefs, and the thousands of outside influences that act upon you every day. Those same influencing people and things that led you into this trap in the first place.
You need to create change in many aspects of your world if you expect to experience real success and to have it last.
It won’t be easy. It won’t happen overnight. There will be powerful forces acting on you and within you to pull you back into your old ways. Some you won’t even see coming until you wake up one day and realize you’ve slid right back to where you were.
But will it be worth it? Darn right it will!
The 7 Waves of Real Success
Each of the seven waves plays a vital role in framing what real success is to you. They also illustrate what must become a priority in shaping who you are, how you show up in the world, and what you do so that you can actually experience living your ideal life.
1st WAVE: Meaning
To experience real success and live your ideal life means to live a life of meaning, both at work and at home. It means making decisions and acting in alignment with your Ideal Life Compass… your core values, your purpose, and the vision of the life and lifestyle you want to live.
2nd WAVE: Mindset
Real success requires that you develop and nurture the mindset that will support it. Some, you might already be embracing. While others… it’s going to be a matter of recognizing the mindset you have that does not serve you and then taking specific steps to change it.
3rd WAVE: Contribution
We all need to make a living and contribute in some manner. The key to living your ideal life is to make your contribution meaningful, fulfilling, and if it’s one of your means of making money… profitable.
4th WAVE: Vitality
I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again… without great health, nothing else matters. Another key to real success and living your ideal life, including contributing at work in a full and meaningful way, is vitality. Vitality is the things you do to add life to your years. The steps you take around physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health and self care. The things you do that will bring energy to your days.
5th WAVE: Longevity
Partnered with vitality is, of course, longevity. Longevity is doing the right things and having the right mindset to add years to your life. Having a longevity mindset is actively pursuing ways to live longer and be more vital.
Just imagine living longer with a clear sense of purpose and meaningful way to use that time?
6th WAVE: Connection
Real success requires connection with yourself; who you are, who you want to be, and how you see the world. It requires connection with others as well. To understand them, who they are and how they see the world. While we may not always agree, when we clearly see we can then choose if or how much time we spend with certain people. Together those two focal points will lead to greater happiness and much less stress.
7th WAVE: Money
Money is the 7th wave for a reason. To experience real success and live your ideal life does require financial resources, but they cannot come at the expense of the other waves.
Nurture the first 6 waves and the money will more easily come. Fail to do so and it will likely continue to be a struggle.
