Meet Brent Haydey
Mentor, trusted advisor , and lifelong student of living well.
I haven't figured life out. Far from it.
What I have done is spend decades learning about the things that make a meaningful life possible; health and movement, work and time, relationships, purpose, and the freedom to actually enjoy the life we're building.
I've made good choices, made mistakes, changed direction and learned along the way.
One Wave Life grew out of that journey.
How I Got Here
One Wave Life didn't begin as a business idea. It grew from my own experience of trying to build a good life while also building a career, a business and a family.
I began to understand that success in one area of life doesn't mean much if the rest of life is being sacrificed to create it.
My background is in exercise science and kinesiology, so health, movement and human performance have been part of my world for decades. But over the years, my understanding of living well expanded far beyond physical health. I became increasingly interested in the bigger picture: how we use our time, the work we choose, the people we share life with, what gives us meaning, and whether the way we're living actually reflects what matters most to us.
I've also spent much of my career working with business owners and professionals. I've seen how easy it is to become successful at building a business while gradually becoming less successful at living the life that business was supposed to support.
I've experienced some of that tension myself.
There have been times when I was focused on doing more, achieving more and moving things forward, only to realize that progress in one area could come at the expense of another. Health, relationships, time, energy and simply having the freedom to enjoy life can all get pushed aside when we're constantly focused on the next thing.
Over time, I began to see that the answer wasn't necessarily to work harder, become more productive or find another system.
Sometimes the answer was to step back.
To get clear about what actually matters. To look honestly at where time and energy were going. To make different choices. And then to keep adjusting as life changed.
That became the foundation for One Wave Life.
The name came from something much more personal: my lifelong connection with water. I've always loved being in it — scuba diving, surfing, paddleboarding, canoeing, kayaking, swimming. Growing up far from the ocean made that connection even more meaningful.
Water also became a useful metaphor for life.
Sometimes the water is calm. Sometimes the waves are bigger than we expected. We can't control the ocean, but we can learn how to read it, respond to it and find our way through it.
That's how I see life.
We're all going to encounter changing conditions, unexpected waves and different seasons. The goal isn't to eliminate them. It's to develop the awareness, health, perspective and support to navigate them well — and, when we can, to use those waves to move toward something that matters.
Today, that's what One Wave Life represents for me.
Not a formula for a perfect life. Not a promise to fix everything.
A way of approaching life with greater intention, perspective and purpose — while staying healthy, active, connected and engaged along the way.
And I'm still learning how to do that myself.
What Life Has Taught Me
Over the years, I've come to believe that living well is less about finding the perfect formula and more about paying attention to what matters and being willing to adjust.
Your Health Matters
You can't fully enjoy life if your body isn't able to participate in it. Movement, recovery, energy and vitality are foundations for everything else.
Your Time Matters
Time is the one resource we don't get back. How we spend it says a great deal about what we actually value.
Your People Matter
Success means very little without meaningful relationships, connection and people with whom you can share the journey.
What Matters To You Matters
Purpose isn't necessarily one grand calling. Sometimes it's simply knowing what you value and making choices that reflect it.
None of these exists in isolation. A good life is the result of paying attention to the whole picture.
Living One Wave Life!
This isn't a life I've figured out. It's a life I'm continuing to shape.
The photographs here aren't meant to show a perfect life. They're glimpses of the things that matter to me; movement, health, adventure, connection, learning, travel and having the freedom to enjoy the years ahead.
For me, this is what One Wave Life looks like in practice. Not always getting it right. Not trying to do everything. Just continuing to make room for the things that make life worth living.
Where One Wave Life Can Take You
One Wave Life looks different for everyone.
For some, it may begin simply with feeling better and staying active.
For others, it may mean stepping back and reconsidering how they're spending their time, what they want next, or how they want to live.
And sometimes it means having people alongside you as you navigate those changes.
Wherever you are, there's no single right place to begin.
