Why great intention alone is not enough

Great intention alone is not enough.

Failure to act in a consistent progressive manner will prevent you from achieving and living with Thriving Health EVERY TIME.

I have seen so many people commit or re-commit then start off down the path of their Thriving Health only to stall, fall off track, and repeat the pattern over and over increasing their frustration along the way.

Roberta was one such person. She began to visualize who and how she wanted to be with respect to embracing and living an active healthy lifestyle. She began to create a plan and take steps to integrate it into her life. Then life got in the way. She stopped her activities.  She rationalized why this was in her own mind and let her stories reinforce her new non-actions. Her underlying beliefs got in the way even more.

We halted the backstepping enough to see the process clearly. She shared that she was still focused on superficial change (the scale). She noted that whenever something else came up she bumped her exercise until it just disappeared altogether. She also said she wanted the ideal life she talked about but it was apparent it was not important enough to her… yet.

Why great intention alone is not enough… and what to do about it.

  1. Start and complete visualizing your ideal life – write out a day in your ideal life imagining who and how you want to be living your active healthy lifestyle forever. Read and connect with this EVERY MORNING!
  2. Connect with, write out and use a much deeper WHY – Why is achieving and living with Thriving Health important to you? Superficial goals alone, such as weight loss, are simply not meaningful enough to stick. As you consider your goals for Thriving Health ask yourself the question “Why is that important to me?” then ask it again for each response you give. Do it at least 3 times. Write out these deep meaningful WHY’s. Read and connect with them EVERY MORNING!
  3. Affirm your love of yourself and make your health your #1 priority – Make it the first thing you add to your schedule weekly and make it virtually impossible to remove the activities from your schedule. Gradually you will shift your life around this #1 priority.

Everything and everyone in your life will benefit from you living in Thriving Health.

Remember…

“Life is meant to be embraced, enjoyed and fully lived, not merely endured!

To your health,

Brent
