It can be easy to make a quick start into a new exercise routine, especially when you’re motivated. Staying on track and making exercise a part of your daily routine can be a very different story.
Here are the next 6 things to immediately do about exercise routine that will enable you to not only start an effective routine but also sustain that routine as it becomes your new normal of living an active, healthy, and happy lifestyle forever!
Get Prepared
Go right now and get your gym bag out. Pack it with suitable exercise clothes and footwear for indoor or outdoor activity at this time of year.
Be sure to include a water bottle as well as a towel and personal hygiene kit.
If you don’t have some of these items schedule a time to go and buy them!
Be prepared for when you schedule exercise. Be prepared for found time. Be prepared for when a spontaneous suggestion of exercise, sport, or recreation comes your way. Be prepared to say YES!
Carry this gym bag in your car and have it at your office. Not being prepared leads to an easy story or excuse to not participate.
Set Up Your Exercise Room
Convenience of stepping in and starting quickly will lead to more routine and consistent participation in your exercise program.
Lack of space completely or a space cluttered with boxes, things covering your exercise equipment or requiring some degree of set up before starting will lead to excuses taking over and derailing your exercise routine.
Schedule time now to clear a space or room for exercise. Set up the equipment you have so you can start quickly and easily any given day. What equipment do you feel you still need to get? Schedule a time and go buy it. Add what you need in your space to motivate you into action that will become routine. A TV or sound system perhaps! Add what you need to inspire you into consistent routine action. Photos, other images, inspirational power words or mantras and other such items can be a powerful pull into action.
Get Up 15 Minutes Earlier
Get up 15 minutes earlier TOMORROW and begin your day with a brief exercise routine. At the start it does not have to be very much at all. Perhaps it’s a brief walk around your home, followed by body weight squats, followed by some mobility/stretching. Commit to doing that very day. Next week get up 5 minutes earlier followed by 5 more minutes each subsequent week until you have a routine of exercising every week day morning and enough time to do the exercise routine you want. Baby steps!
Register For A Class
Registering for a class is a quick and easy way to commit to a set routine of exercise. When you commit by paying for it and commit to a teacher and others in your class your likelihood of actually going rises.
Gradually the action of your exercise class becomes routine. BE SURE to register for the next class BEFORE the current one ends to keep the routine of exercise continuous.
Make An Agreement For Support
Who has similar exercise goals to you? Call them NOW and partner up. Mutually support one another to stay on track.
Who can help remove challenges to your consistent routine of exercise? Have a discussion with that person today about your goals, why they are important to you, what support you need of that person, and exactly how you need it to look like. Ask for that support. Get agreement from them. Keep asking of them or of someone who can give it until you have the support you need to succeed.
