What motivates you most to act to achieve and live in Thriving Health?
The past or the present and future?
In this post I’ll share why being clear on this and consciously choosing may be the difference between success and repeating your same old limiting patterns.
Are you running away from something you fear, from pain, or the anticipation of either?
Are you running from being overweight, from a number on your scale, from your reflection in a mirror? Do you live in fear of dying or being severely limited by your poor health?
Are you driven by a vision of something you really want?
Does the thought of walking along the beach with someone you love in your senior years inspire you? Do you want to be able to play with your kids or grandkids now and in the future?
Now think about this for a moment. What motivates you to act to make it happen? I don’t mean what you think is the best way to act to achieve a desired goal. What is your actual focus RIGHT NOW?
Are you motivated to run away from something or towards something?
How well is it actually motivating you into the action you know will make a difference in you achieving and living with the freedom you desire?
Your focus could mean the difference between acting and not acting. The difference between successfully achieving your goal and NOT.
There isn’t necessarily a right or wrong here. The key is when to actively use one versus the other, how you use it, and when you transition from one to the other.
Become crystal clear because your motivation must be strong enough to break the old habits and patterns you’ve been living by. It needs to be strong enough to overcome powerful, often unconscious, limiting or negative beliefs that act to trip you up.
If you naturally focus on running from your fear then consciously acknowledge and affirm it. But also add powerful affirmations on what you want to head toward; the business you will have and the lifestyle you will achieve and live.
Freedom will not come if you remain stuck running from fear.
Focus more and more on the positive as your actions take hold. When you are ready let go of the old focus and fully embrace your positive vision.
If you naturally focus on the positive but are not seeing effective action take hold there are likely unconscious beliefs or old patterns standing on your path. Connect with your fears, your pain, the issues on your path. Consciously allow them to motivate you until you can disrupt your old patterns and overcome your limiting beliefs and take positive action. Definitely do keep your positive motivating vision. As you see new actions and habits take hold gradually shift and let go of the fear based motivation.
Both instances will lead you into Thriving Health being your new normal way of being.
Ultimately the decision is yours. Make it a conscious one. Make it a successful one. How will you know? Your results will speak loud and clear. Remember baby steps are good so long as they are mostly forward steps.
“Life is meant to be embraced, enjoyed and fully lived, not merely endured!”
