Change or Die

If you were told today that you must change some key aspect of your life or you will die, would you?

The answer seems obvious, doesn’t it? Of course you would. Surprisingly though it doesn’t always happen. In fact it only does about 10% of the time without effective support.

I have been reminded recently of very important work done on this topic. Researchers studied people who had significant cardiovascular bypass surgery and were told they have to make a change in their lifestyles or DIE. Only 10% actually made the changes they needed on their own without receiving additional support. Only 10%. In essence 90% chose to die.

Some in our Thriving Health community face this very dilemma. The message might be coming from your doctor or a friend, or it might be one that you inherently just know to be true. Most in our community might feel that their situation is not that serious and you might be right. In wanting to lose weight, look better, and feel better or in acting to prevent a lifestyle disease your life might not be on the line, at least not yet, but why are you not yet experiencing the results you want.

Perhaps we can rephrase my initial statement to say change or suffer, with suffer being the endless frustration of lack of sustained results. Attempting to make the needed changes to realize your desired results without effective support probably only works for about 10% of you too. In essence 90% choose frustration and suffering on some level.

In that same research a second group studied had a fundamentally different support group (meaning they actually had effective support in their effort to change and not die). Their ability to positively change was at a rate of success of about 91%. Nearly a mirror image to those who did not receive support. That’s the ultimate power of effective support (Thriving Health Principle 4: Assistance).

We all have the innate power to consciously create the results we want in our lives. That power is amplified with the right support. That type of support is out there waiting to help.

Where can you find it?

  • Your inner circle of family and friends.
  • A like minded group of people who share your vision and dream of living an Ideal Life in Thriving Health and want to actually do something about it.
  • Professional support such as a health coach or trainer.

Begin to build effective support into your life and you will consciously create the sustained results you desire.

Release weight, achieve thriving health and begin living your Ideal Life TODAY!

Yours in health,

Brent
